The High Kick

Made during my MFA in Product Design.

The High Kick introduces a novel concept: a kickable standing lamp.

By reimagining how we interact with a everyday object, this lamp challenges the conventional ‘adult’ script. To turn the lamp on and off, adults must kick it, embracing a playful and unconventional approach.

My thesis explored how design can be an antidote to the seriousness of adulthood.

The lampshade is crafted from foam with the plaster base stabilizing the lamp for big kicks.

Additionally, the lamp features an adjustable lampshade that can be raised and lowered to accommodate different heights and preferences.
